The line of mopes wraps around the warehouse hidden in the Valley’s North Hollywood. It moves, I take a step. These men are not the chiseled, two-hundred pound studs with eight-inch-plus penises of the A-list. Zero Sum accepted by a literary magazine.
I was looking at my list of lit mags last night seeing what the market is like for the Zero Sum series. I seriously had no clue as to what genre it falls under.
When I saw Sex and Murder magazine’s submission policy and read some of the work they published I said “Fuck it.”, trimmed it down to 8,699 words (this required me eliminating my favorite words, “motherfucker” and “cocksucker” about 50 times.), re-formatted it properly as a novelette manuscript and sent it in.
Figured I wouldn’t hear back for the standard several months, but it got insta-accepted! I’m a happy motherfucker!
Progress Report
The Novel: Thirty-five pages into my novel’s manuscript done. The proverbial first ten pages are among my best I’ve ever written. A ball-peen hammer to the solar plexus from paragraph one, if you didn’t like the Zero Sum series because it was too graphic you’ll have a hard time getting past the first page. I’m not writing it to please anybody but myself because I have something to say. Actually, to the contrary…
Without giving it away, the novel is a scathing dressing down of some of the ethically challenged people in porn and some of the fucked up things that exist. Me and all of my shortcomings are fair game too, I give no quarter even to my alter-ego character. Actually, I’m harder and more critical of myself than any other character. (more…)
